SAY WORD: ALABAMA WOMAN MAKES GRANDCHILD RUN TO DEATH FOR EATING CHOCOLATE

A woman from Alabama is facing a lifetime sentence for killing her granddaughter for eating chocolate, Yahoo reports.
Joyce Garrard was found guilty of capital murder last week for the murder of nine-year-old Savannah Hardin. The incident happened in 2012 when the 50-year-old found out Hardin had ignored her wishes by eating chocolate candies. Hardin, who had a bladder infection at the time wasn't allowed to eat the candy. After getting off her school bus, Garrard ordered the child to run for three hours while carrying wood.
The child died several days later from dehydration and low sodium.
The judge in the trial will determine if Garrard will face a lifetime in jail or the death penalty during a hearing on May 11.

ARRESTED: YOUNG DRO

Djuan Montreal Hart, better known as rapper Young Dro, was arrested early Saturday on a theft charge, according to DeKalb County jail records.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office charged Hart, 36, of Atlanta, with theft by conversion of leased or rented personal property for a February incident, booking records showed. He was being held without bond Monday morning.
Another law enforcement agency apprehended Hart in an unrelated incident Sunday, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said in an emailed statement.
“In the process, officers learned of an outstanding warrant for his arrest in DeKalb County,” spokeswoman Cynthia Williams said.

UPDATE: Extended Video Footage Shows Cleveland Police Handcuffing Tamir Rice's Sister

After three weeks of refusal the city of Cleveland has finally released extended footage from the shooting death of Tamir Rice. The 15 minute video (which you can see below) shows Tamir's 14-year-old sisterSamaria, being apprehended by police shortly after the shooting. Samaria ran to her brother's side when she heard the shots. Police forced her to the snow-covered ground, handcuffed her, and escorted her to a squad car.
Walter Madison, an attorney for the Rice family, called the video "shocking and outrageous."
"This has to be the cruelest thing I've ever seen," he said.
The footage also confirms the police officers (including the shooter, who was previously foundunfit for duty) stood around for four minutes until an FBI agent who was nearby came in to administer first aid. It wasn't until 13 minutes after the shooting that Tamir was taken away on a stretcher.
"No one thinks that it's appropriate to try to save him," Madison said. "The first person who does is not affiliated with the Cleveland police department. ...This is the level of service that makes people very upset and distrustful of law enforcement."

CAUGHT ON CAM: Charlie Hebdo Paris Massacre:

CAUGHT ON CAM: Body Camera Shows Cop Shoot Elderly Man Holding an Axe

The above video shows a Black police officer shoot and kill an elderly Black man in Selma, Alabama.
A group of police arrived at the scene in response to a report of disorderly conduct, where 74-year-old Ananias Shaw was walking through the streets holding an axe in his hand.

Officers pursued him and demanded that he "put the axe down" numerous times, but Shaw refused, and instead taunted them to shoot him. Just before the fatal shot was fired, Shaw screamed out at the officer, "shoot it!" to which the officer complied.

This case was taken before a grand jury and the officer was not indicted for killing Shaw. Some people who have viewed this footage have questioned why out of the 5:21 clip, none of the officers pulled out a taser and shot Shaw with that instead of using lethal force. The shooting occurs at the 3:50 mark.
We warn you, the video is graphic.

GTV NEWS: KENTWOOD POLICE FOCUSED ON HOLIDAY SHOPLIFTERS

GTV NEWS: GRPD... BODY CAMERAS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — President Obama announced Monday a proposal for a $263 million spending package to increase body cameras and expand training for law enforcement officials.
Of that $263 million, $75 million would go to purchasing 50,000 police body cameras.
A group plans to go in front of the Grand Rapids City Commission Tuesday to push for body cameras on Grand Rapids police officers.
“Overwhelmingly we are hearing support for body cameras. We’re also hearing that it’s just part of the solution. So once again we know at its core it’s the trust it’s the trust that the police department has to build with certain populations,” The Co-Executive Director of LINC Darel Ross said.
Ross says the group they are bringing to the city commission meeting would like to see body cameras on all GRPD officers or at the very least patrol officers.
“We know it’s ambitious and will have to be rolled out in phases,” said Ross. “We just want to start some conversations and we truly believe residents in the community have a right to speak to how they are policed.”
But they might have an uphill battle. The Grand Rapids police chief told 24 Hour News 8 in an interview last month he sees issues with body cams.
“I have concerns more that people who have issues in their neighborhood and may want to share those concerns would be reluctant to do so,” said Grand Rapids Police Chief David Rahinsky
Rahinsky said if people know they are being recorded they won’t be willing share information needed to solve a case.
He’s also worried about recording children, sexual assault and domestic violence victims.
“I’m not comfortable with officers having the ability to activate those cameras in private residences,” said Chief Rahinsky.
“I think he raises some legitimate concerns and once again I think that’s why it’s thoughtful policy. I don’t think anybody is saying if you are working with police we are going to record you or the instance of domestic violence is going to of on film,” Ross said.
A study done on the Rialto, California Police Department after their officers started wearing body cameras found there was a 60 percent reduction in officer use of force incidents and an 88 percent decrease in the number of citizen complaints.
“We don’t want it to come down to a he said she said, and in today’s world we don’t have to there is technology,” said Ross.
Ross also said many realize body cameras are not the end all, they would also like to see community policing and a more diverse police force.
“I think America has a lot of healing to do,” said Ross. “And I think that the criminal justice system has its own issues and I think this is an easy way to make the criminal justice system a little better while also breeding accountability to those who are paid to protect and serve.”
LINC is serving a dinner at 5:30 before Tuesday night’s city commission meeting at its headquarters located at 1167 Madison SE in Grand Rapids. A bus will leave for those needing transportation to the meeting at 6:45 p.m.

GTV NEWS: WILLIE WILLIAMS... JAIL GUARD ATTACK TRIAL BEGINS!

SAY WORD: Woman Calls 911 As Zimmerman Pulls Family From SUV

George Zimmerman has been in hiding since his acquittal of murder earlier this month, and almost nobody has seen him out and about. Last week however, he made his reappearance in heroic fashion.

According to Sanford Police Department Capt. Jim McAuliffe, Zimmerman rescued an unidentified family from their overturned SUV. When firefighters reported to the scene, the driver told them, "George Zimmerman pulled me out."

The crash happened July 17 around 5:45 pm, with two parents and two children inside the vehicle. Zimmerman acted on the scene with another man who also helped pull the family out.
