GTV NEWS: 2 arrested in shooting of 2 teens

Two teenagers are accused in the death of one teenager and the attempted murder of another.
The Kent Metro Cold Case Team recently arrested Jovantae Ivy-Vance, 18, and Martin Luther Broyles, 17, both of Grand Rapids.
Ivy-Vance has since been charged with open murder, felony firearm and perjury. Broyles faces charges of assault with intent to murder and felony firearm.
Nathaniel Jones and James Key were confronted by the suspects and a third person, police say, in an alley near the Shell gas station at Boston Street and Fuller Avenue SE in Grand Rapids on June 11, 2009.
The 15-year-old victims were shot as they left the area after having a conversation with the group, police said.
Jones was taken to a hospital where he later died. Key survived his injuries.
Detectives from the Grand Rapids Major Case Team worked the case, but witnesses and possible suspects did not cooperate.
The lead investigator continued to solve the shootings, even after he was transferred to the Kent Metro Cold Case Team in January.
New leads developed as a result of the Investigative Subpoena Process, which accelerated the investigation, police said in a news release.
Even though Ivy-Vance and Broyles were juveniles when the shooting occurred, the Kent County Prosecutor's Office charged them both as adults.
The suspects were arraigned in probate court prior to their arraignment in district court. No bond was set for either suspect.
This is the ninth case solved by the Kent Metro Cold Case Team since the team was formed in 2006. The team consists of detectives from the Grand Rapids Police Department, Kent County Sheriff's Department and Michigan State Police.
