stolen car crashes into parking lot wall
Grand Rapids police say two people stole a car and crashed it into a downtown parking lot wall while trying to flee from an officer.
Police arrested the two after a brief foot chase. An officer on scene said one suspect is an man and the other is a juvenile.
It started around 11:20 p.m. Thursday when police say the suspects stole the vehicle outside the Hall Street Party Store. Police said the car's owner went inside the business and left the car's engine on, and the suspects drove it away.
An officer spotted the stolen vehicle in the downtown area just after 2 a.m. Friday.
Police said the suspects drove south on Ottawa Avenue and tried to make a left turn on Lyon Street when the driver lost control of the car, which struck the wall. The wall divides a public parking lot.
The suspects were then taken into custody.
