GTV NEWS: CHILD SEEN WITH DUCT TAPED WRIST.... FALSE REPORT?!?!

Grand Rapids police say they have found the man who allegedly duct-taped a child's wrists together at a gas station Monday afternoon and that there is no sign of any criminal wrongdoing.

A witness told police she was pumping gas at Jon White Gas Station at the corner of Hall Street and Division Avenue SW just before 2 p.m. when a car pulled up to another pump. The front seat passenger pumped gas. In the back seat with two other people, the witness said, she saw a girl between the ages of 6 and 11.

The witness said she heard some sort of argument between the man pumping gas and someone in the back seat. She then saw the girl reach out of the vehicle with both hands and the man wrapped what looked like duct tape around her wrists. He then got back in the car, which drove off.
Police weren't initially sure what they were dealing with. They wanted to get the word out just in case as they treated the incident as suspicious.
GRPD said that later Monday, the family saw their photos on the news, contacted police and set up a meeting at the gas station just before 10 p.m.
Police determined that the child in question was not in danger and that incident appears to have been some sort of horseplay between the people in the car.
No one was arrested and the man was allowed to leave.
One man who was at the meeting with police told 24 Hour News 8 that he had not duct-taped the wrists of a girl.
And in fact, it may not have been a girl involved in the incident. 24 Hour News 8 saw the man speaking sternly to a little boy at the gas station.
Police say they are still looking into the incident and believe they will wrap up the investigation Tuesday.
