BLUE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Police say a vehicle hit and killed a woman who was walking with her three children in the 700 block of E. White Lake Drive in Blue Lake Township.
The woman, in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released yet. Police said she was in the area visiting a friend and did not live nearby.
The three children were taken to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. A medical helicopter then took one of the kids to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. The kids' conditions are not known at this time.
The incident happened about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of E. White Lake Drive in Blue Lake Township.
Two of the kids were in a stroller and a third was walking next to the woman. Police said they don't know if the pedestrians were walking along the Muskegon County road or trying to cross it at the time.
Police at scene told 24 Hour News 8 they do not believe the driver is at fault because the area was very dark and a street light was not working.
