GTV NEWS: STANDOFF... SUSPECTS GET AWAY!
A home invasion that led to a standoff on the west side of Grand Rapids ended when SWAT officers determined the armed suspects were no longer in the home.
Police were called to the home in the 200 block of Lexington Avenue on reports of a home invasion with several shots fired at around 4 a.m.
Three victims were able to escape the home through a window but officers believed the suspects may still be inside.
Shortly after 7 a.m., SWAT officers entered the house and found no one was there. Officers evacuated some of the homes in the area and set up a command post on Lake Michigan Drive near Seward Avenue NW.
Investigators discovered bullet holes in the door of the home and were working to determine if the incident was the result of a prior altercation at the residence.
SWAT team officers and negotiators were brought in to assist in the effort, but at around 6:40 a.m, a command officer said there had been no obvious evidence that anyone is still in the home.
At some point SWAT team members will enter the home to make a positive determination as to whether or not the suspects are inside.
Among other side streets, Lake Michigan Drive was shut down for a time but re-opened by 7:30 a.m. TO SEE VIDEO CLICK HERE
