Two officers originally approached a group of men who matched the description of suspects from a home burglary in the area Friday morning.

That suspect pointed a weapon to the officer, who then fired his at the suspect, GRPD Capt. Eric Payne told 24 Hour News 8.
No one was hit.

"W e heard gunfire or what we thought was gunfire," a neighbor said. "We were in the living room watching TV and I was questioning it when I saw someone run across my backyard. That's when we called 911."
The suspect ran for about ten minutes. Then officers caught him near the intersection of Burton and Kalamazoo.
Police officials said they took between six and eight people in custody. It's unclear how many shots were fired but the weapon pointed at an officer was recovered.
