New York rapper Tim Dog -- best known the 1990s diss record "F*** Compton", aimed at rappers such as Eazy-E, MC Ren, Dr. Dre and Michel'le -- is in trouble with the law.
According to the Associated Press, the 45-year-old (real name: Timothy Blair) pleaded guilty in a Mississippi courtroom to grand larceny charges in August, for allegedly defrauding a woman out of thousands of dollars.
Blair entered his guilty plea in the financial scheme that Southaven, Miss. resident Esther Pilgrim said left her with $32,000 in credit card debt.
He was sentenced to five years of probation and must pay Pilgrim $19,000 in restitution within the probation period.
According to local paper, The Commercial Appeal, Pilgrim said she met the former rapper in 2007 on an online dating site and the two began a long-distance relationship.
She says Tim Dog told her he was trying to re-launch his rap career and was looking for investors, which apparently, she fell for.
Further details were unknown at press time.
Tim Dog hails from Bronx, New York, and rose to prominence as a rapper in the early '90s with his debut LP, Penicillin On Wax, which included the celebrated diss record "F*** Compton". The track came out during the rise of West Coast gangsta rap, which saw artists like Eazy-E, N.W.A., and Dr. Dre become musical superstars. On the song, he attacked the city's style of dress and musical output and made threatening gestures to several Compton rappers.
He still records music. His latest project was in 2009, titled Project X: Iconic, a collaborative effort with Kool Keith. Before that, he dropped 2006's BX Warrior, neither was as successful as his 1991 debut.
