The GRPD said Monday that it was ready to send its report on Rodrick Dantzler , who killed seven people and then himself in July, to Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth.
Captain Jeffrey Hertel of GRPD said that the report should be on the prosecutor's desk this week. Forsyth said he is ready to review it.
GPRD was awaiting ballistics testing results from the Michigan State Police and toxicology test results on Dantzler.
Hertel said that GRPD investigated the case as if Dantzler was going to be prosecuted. When asked why GPRD was so thorough, Hertel said the department wanted to provide the community with answers:
"In the long run the community is going to have some questions as to why this occurred, how this occurred, the chronological order of what occurred. The families will have questions. I think we owe it to the victims," he said.
Dantzler led police on a chase that ended in a standoff on July 7. He killed seven people in two different homes, held three people hostage, and then shot himself in the head.
